High Performance Packing Tape

Branch Nebula (Sydney)
9, 10, 11, 12 September 19:00 Aisteres Hall at H2O 6 Aisteres iela 2 | € 15 / € 10

In ‘High Performance Packing Tape’, the performer Lee Wilson is faced with difficult and menacing situations brought onto him by various objects and hazardous technical equipment. During the opening minutes of the show he tries to blow a huge balloon out of its proportions. An explosion follows.

From the very beginning everything Wilson does is destined to fail; but we are disarmed by his persistence which allows us to regard failure as an inevitable and perhaps even useful element in life. Fighting fear and the instinct of self-preservation, the man sacrifices his safety and wellbeing for risk and freedom. His only companion is a very durable tape. The finale rewards his efforts, as the impossible happens.

The show is suitable for schoolchildren and adolescents.

About the artist

Founded in 1999 by Lee Wilson and Mirabelle Wouters ‘Branch Nebula’ is one of Australia’s most adventurous performance companies working at the nexus between performance, dance, sport and street-styles.

‘Branch Nebula’ works across disciplines to challenge mainstream cultural conventions. They often work with non-conventional performers to collaboratively devise work that defies categorization. They interrogate the audience experience and explore contemporary culture as a means of creating access and speaking to a broad audience.
